Some secrets are better forgotten
The two-time winner of the Jiří Marek Prize for the best detective book brings back to the scene the character of criminal Josef Bergman. In her seventh novel with her favourite hero, Michaela Klevisová takes the reader to places in southern Bohemia that are only seemingly peaceful. There is a danger lurking beneath the surface that should not be awakened...
Fourteen years ago, in a remote South Bohemian village, something happened that Eliška's mother never wanted to talk about again. The adult Eliška now returns to understand the events of the past. However, upon her arrival, a young woman disappears and another is murdered. The connection between the crime and an old unsolved case eventually brings Josef Bergman to the scene. While searching for a murderer, a Prague crime analyst discovers that the locals are hiding a dark past and their own skeleton closets.
