Caring squirrels, faithfully loving ravens, compassionate mice and grieving ropes - do you also associate these feelings only with humans? Peter Wohlleben, a forester and bestselling author, a man with a passion for nature, once again leaves the reader in awe, this time at the unsuspected rich emotional world of animals.
In this book, Peter Wohlleben brings us the latest scientific findings and interweaves them with compelling stories and his own experiences. We thus learn in a very readable way about the hitherto little explored, but extremely varied feelings and behaviour of forest and domestic animals. And here we suddenly realize that animals are much closer to us than we ever knew. Fascinating, informative and at times unbelievable!
Peter Wohlleben (born. 1964) wanted to become a conservationist as a child. He studied forestry and worked for more than twenty years as a clerk in the provincial forestry administration. He left his job to pursue his ideas on environmental protection. Today he manages the forestry in the Eifel region in the Rhineland, where he is working to bring back the forests. He has been invited to appear on many television programmes, gives lectures, organises seminars and writes books on forests and nature conservation. He is the author of the bestselling The Secret Life of Trees.
