The Lost Chapter

England, present day: Eighty-year-old artist Florence Carter is content with her life. She spends her final days creating elaborate linocuts in the company of her cat, her dog, and her young neighbour, Alice, a quiet and anxious girl. But when Flo discovers that her long-lost friend has published a book about their years together at a French finishing school, she feels compelled to unveil secrets from the past and sets off for France, accompanied by Alice and her mother. Upon arriving in Lyon, however, the deeply buried truth proves to be too heavy a burden.

France, 1957: Florence and Lili meet in post-war Lyon as pupils at a strict finishing school for girls. Flo is a shy girl from England who is expected to make a successful debut into society and then marry well. Lili is her complete opposite – a confident American with a free spirit, full of desire for adventure. Despite everything, the girls become inseparable friends, their mutual affection promising a lifelong friendship... until an unexpected betrayal tears them apart.

The Lost Chapter is a poignant, emotionally charged novel about the power of friendship. Its message is that it is never too late to start writing a new story.
