Prague, 2030. The CCR virus pandemic, an aggressive pathogen that triggers unpredictable, violent reactions in the human brain, has been raging for five years. The state and its institutions have collapsed during this terrifying 'zombie' apocalypse, and in the devastated metropolis, only the law of the strongest applies. A law fully exploited by a dictator nicknamed the General.
The only one who has managed to defy the new system is an unnamed nineteen-year-old man. Not only did he escape from a heavily guarded prison where the General's guard tested experimental treatments against the will of the subjects, but he also left a trail of his pursuers' bodies behind him.
For the General, his capture is a matter of internal security, but the hunt for the fleeing prey soon turns into a bloody massacre. It is not clear whether only the defeated will remain after the undeclared war – and whether the fall of the uncompromising regime will not ultimately mean the rise of something worse...
A brutal post-apocalyptic story reminiscent of the best of McCarthy's The Road and Matheson's I Am Legend.

Nurtured by the Vltava, on whose banks he was conceived over a weekend. At the age of three, his desperate parents sold him to travelling gypsies, who returned him after just four days as completely unmanageable. Several official and semi-legal institutions then contributed to his upbringing. In some of them, he learned the laws; in the rest, how to circumvent them. Daniel Gris gradually acquired several wives of different nationalities and shapes and is the presumed father of a yet undetermined number of offspring. He likes nice cars and fast women, absinthe, and the atmosphere of smoke-filled bars. He has tried his hand at nine trades in his life, and having reconciled himself to poverty, he finally decided on a career as a writer.
