The Second City

Audiobook by Michal Ajvaz The Other City

The book's lonely hero stumbles upon a book in an antique shop written in an unknown script and brings it home. Thus begins a long search for the unknown city from which the book originates, which lives in a strange symbiosis with Prague, on its edges and on the flipside of familiar spaces. The narrator walks through Prague at night, when the other city comes alive, meets with its inhabitants, fights with his animals, escaping the guns of the defenders of the other city, watching his festivities and debating with his priests. At the same time, he is still trying to understand the meaning of the city that looms before him and to penetrate its centre, which escapes him.
