Andrzej Sapkowski is one of the most famous Polish writers. He gained worldwide fame for his fantastic stories about the white-haired wizard Geralt of Rivia. He published the first of them in a journal in 1986. They became the Saga of the Witcher, It consists of the short story collections Last Wish and Sword of Destiny and the novels Blood of the Elves, Time of Contempt, Fire Bite, Tower of the Swallow, Mrs. Lake and Storm Season. He considers his magnum opus to be the historical fantasy Hussite Trilogy, set in the Czech Republic and Silesia during the Hussite struggles.
