To the core

Maren wants the same thing as everyone else. A respectable family, a boy who will adore her, loyal friends. However, one fundamental problem stands in her way – everyone Maren falls in love with, she ends up devouring. She can't help it; she's an eater.

Ever since her mother found her as a toddler over a pile of gnawed bones that used to be her babysitter, Penny Wilson, the two have been constantly on the run. Or rather, they were – when the young cannibal wakes up on her 16th birthday, she finds only an empty flat and a farewell letter. Soon after, Maren meets nineteen-year-old Lee, who understands her appetite perfectly – perhaps a little too well.

But does their relationship have a chance of survival? After all, some instincts are stronger than love…

This dark cannibal romance was the basis for the film of the same name by Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name, Suspiria), which shocked audiences at the Venice Film Festival in 2022.
