Tram No. 1852

What happens when he gets H. P. Lovecraft the opportunity to write pornographic short stories?

Let us imagine that in 1934 the writer H. P. Lovecraft's tantalizing challenge to write a short story for the avant-garde literary magazine Erotesque. He is offered a generous fee and a promise that his work will be published under a pseudonym.

The perpetually languishing Lovecraft would welcome a larger sum of money, of course, but there's a catch: a short story for this exclusive periodical must be first and foremost erotic. The somewhat puritanical author is at first horrified, but circumstances soon persuade him to accept the offer, let his imagination run wild and try his hand at sexually provocative prose...

Edward Lee, who tackled the idea of Lovecraft writing unbridled eroticism in this book in a highly imaginative and shocking way, has been one of the most prominent writers of extreme and transgressive horror for years. He cites Lovecraft as his main source of inspiration and, among others, Tram No. 1852 attempts to place it in a completely new context, blasphemous for some, and stimulatingly original for others.
