Under the snow

Survive the family celebration in good health? It's easier to walk through a minefield!

Three sisters, one car and a really stuffy atmosphere. The first brings her two daughters, a baby and a dog, the second her son, the third a hangover. So begins the novel story in the book Under the Snow by Petra Soukupová, an author specializing in family dramas. But with the trio of women, their children and gifts for the father, who is celebrating his birthday, travel a host of unpleasant memories, hidden frustrations and silent regrets. The interplay between the uptight Olga, the unpredictable Blanka and the free-spirited Kristýna threatens to end in a serious conflict - and they have no idea that a big and unpleasant surprise awaits them in their parents' house. This is going to be one of those days that drag on like a week before payday and at the end of which you get into your bed a completely different person than the one who got out of it in the morning...

Family relationships sometimes resemble a peaceful-looking snowy swamp - but what interests Petra Soukupová is what lurks beneath the snow.
