Václav Havel - Powerful Powerless in the 20th Century

"Truth and love must triumph over lies and hatred!" Václav Havel

Do your children have gaps in 20th century history and could hardly put together basic information about the life of Václav Havel? An experienced author presents the personality of the first Czech president in the context of the historical development of the 20th century. It interweaves historical events with biographical ones, describing the nature of a totalitarian society and the desire of the individual to live in truth in all circumstances. Young readers will learn in an accessible way who Masaryk and Hitler were, what happened after the Munich betrayal and in what environment Václav Havel grew up. After February, the privileged, thoughtful child became an undesirable son of the bourgeoisie with the label "study undesirable". But the heart and head were in the right place. Thanks to his clear vision of everything that was happening around him and his personal charisma, he eventually became the unofficial leader of the anti-regime people and the president of our country.
