Vango

He's always felt best near heaven...

Young romantics, enjoy! The most eloquent Frenchman of our time has woven a web of deceit for you, hiding the mystery of the hero's identity in the inhuman ideologies of the 1930s. Vango, a quadriplegic, investigates why fate spat him out as an infant on a rocky island near Sicily and who his parents were. A riveting, opulent, even deliciously colossal epic told in the style of Fombella's compatriot Dumas, it shows that even under the pressure of Nazism and Bolshevism, the will to reckon with the villains, as in the story of the avenger Monte Cristo, has sprouted in Europe.

The escapades of the elusive young man, who loves the orphaned girl Ethel and climbing in the heights, are assisted by the achievements of the technology of the time in the form of airships, steam trains and racing cars. He is also being chased by unsavory policemen and hot-blooded Sicilians, pirates, treasure of immeasurable value and the inveterate Russians, as usual uncivilized to the point of horror. What does Stalin's daughter have to do with all this, and how far can Vango retreat to preserve his honour in the face of moral dilemmas? And he defended his freedom and the freedom of others?
