Vlasta - a novel about the king of comedians
Meet Vlasta Burian, the man who loved the laughter of his audience above all else
As high as a brilliant comedian's star can rise, so low can it fall again. The genius Vlasta Burian comes to life in a story that hides tears in laughter, terror in joy and shows how colourful the world we know only from black and white films was. The novel looks at Burian's film and theatre career and private life from the mid-1930s through the schizophrenic atmosphere of the German occupation to the complete disintegration of his beloved world in the post-war period.
