100 years of Ostrava football club and its personalities in a unique publication
"I was twelve when my dad took me to Baník for the first time. I remember it because it was for a reward. For my birthday. That I'm an adult now. We played Sparta and it was packed. I know we drew and that Pospíchal scored for Sparta and I asked my dad how someone who played for Baník not long ago could score goals for him now."
This is how Jarek Nohavica, one of the most famous Baník fans, remembers his first visit to the football. Almost everyone who supports Baník has the experience of the first match written in their hearts forever - and now they can refresh it with this complete 100-year history of the club.
What was going on behind the scenes of some of the cup matches that made history? Which players have left the most significant mark? And how did the movement of flag bearers, who are nowadays called hooligans, originate and function? Many of the stories described have not been published until now, and some of the witnesses have published their memories for the first time.
