As the spring sun returns to Halleholm, an idyllic little town near Stockholm, the snow is finally melting from the streets. Lovisa and Axel are preparing for their wedding and moving into Villa Halleholm, where they are setting up a room for their eagerly awaited child. But their future is shaken by an unexpected turn of events, leaving the young couple in painful uncertainty.
It is at this moment that Lovisa's older sister, Johanna, the principal flautist of the Metropolitan Opera orchestra in New York, finds herself back in her hometown. She would like some quiet time to think about how to solve her marital crisis, but her journey across the ocean also brings a welcome bonus: she gets to know her younger sister, Lovisa, all over again.
