Wheels of death

When a blood-spattered, shaken cyclist stumbles out of the dark Brechfa Forest and incoherently reports his friend's murder, DCI Warlow and his team take on a new case – one shrouded in a fog thicker than the surrounding hills. But the murder is just the beginning. Old grudges, past police decisions, anonymous threats, and mysterious symbols hinting at something dark and ancient all come into play.

Warlow – a sharp-tongued loner with an even sharper instinct – along with Jess, Catrin, Rhys, and new recruit Gil, soon discover that the forest hides more than just tyre tracks and blood on the pine needles. Something terrible has happened here before. Something many would rather forget. But the killer hasn't forgotten. And they see their act as a just settling of scores.

In a landscape where phone signal and hope of swift help disappear, the investigation turns into a dangerous game against an intelligent and vengeful adversary. And if Warlow doesn't uncover the truth in time, someone else will pay with their life.

The second instalment in the Evan Warlow series delivers a dark, fast-paced thriller from the heart of wild Wales. The raw atmosphere, believable characters, tension right up to the final page, and a dash of dry humour will delight all fans of gritty crime fiction.
