Genius loci of Aš. The life of several German families from the First Republic until the traumatic expulsion. A disturbing testimony to a time and people we would rather forget. < br> < br> I did. A town in the very west of the country, once the sparkling jewel of the Sudetenland, where the textile industry and trade flourished. It used to be full of shops, restaurants and cafes. The story of the time when everything began to shatter begins in 1915 and ends with the displacement. However, the political background does not play a major role in this book. < br> The main heroine is Hedwig. A girl who has been struggling with a certain feeling of inadequacy since she was a child, with an urge that makes her do some things and prevents her from doing others. She is vehemently trying to break away from Wernersreuth, today's Werner, although she is permanently tied to it for various reasons. Hedvika's experience is detached and attracted, indifferent and preoccupied, rebellious and humble. Hedvika struggles with feelings of alienation and love, as we know it from love novels, but presented without exaggeration. < br> The book White Spring is a tribute to the town of Aš, which today is not even a dog barking. We still find here remnants of the past. Crumbling walls of houses, cellars, wells. It is a mysterious landscape where nature has taken its toll on historical development. Yet in her imagination, the author sees it as a rich and beautiful city with enormous potential. That's why he writes about it, that's why he lives here.
