Why Allah created the Kalashnikov

Reporter from wars, mosques and bazaars

The author revisits his experiences from recent visits to Israel, Gaza, Pakistan, Egypt and Afghanistan. His view of developments there is certainly not black and white. In the Gaza Strip, he spoke to ordinary residents and a Hamas spokesman. And he confirmed his view that the truth is not just on one side. In Israel, he met with retired Air Force generals. "We soon found out how effective Soviet missiles were in Arab hands," they recalled of the Yom Kippur War. And he will never forget the eyes of the Egyptians the day they breathed freedom for the first time in their lives. They beamed with surprised enthusiasm and unrecognized self-respect. In addition, Pavel Novotný describes images of Pakistani and Afghan cities, rides in military vehicles on local streets or a visit to a Muslim Brotherhood school.
