You don't die in Longyearbyen

A young Norwegian detective leaves Oslo for Svalbard, hoping that the local police force, which deals with virtually no crime other than the occasional brawl, snowmobile accident, petty theft, or animal incident, will help her overcome her anxiety attacks. However, the therapy she has prescribed for herself is severely disrupted by a bear attack on a student, which would not be unusual in the polar region, were it not for the fact that the circumstances arouse certain doubts in the detective.

A former war correspondent from mainland Norway learns of the death of his former colleague on the Lofoten Islands. Given his ex-girlfriend's character, he refuses to accept the official story of suicide and sets out to find the real reason for her death.

Two cases a thousand kilometres apart, two parallel investigations. The intersection of the two dead women's fates is a high-stakes game, but one that began somewhere entirely different from the land of fjords, coastal ice, and polar animals.
