Advantages of discrete circuits

A discrete circuit consists of electronic components that are disparate, separate devices, also called discrete components. These can be "passive" components, such as resistors, capacitors and inductors, as well as "active" components, which in this case are transistors. The opposite of this would be an integrated circuit that uses operational amplifiers (Op-Amps) in the signal chain. Toroidal Power Transformer

A special toroidal transformer with a low saturation core reduces the level of electromagnetic radiation, which is essential because otherwise no phono preamplifier could ever work properly.
