The PENTAX smc DA 40mm f/2.8 XS lens with a fixed focal length of 61mm (in the 35mm format) is based on the legendary SMC Pentax DA 40mm f/2.8 Limited and is suitable for both outdoor and studio, and portrait and landscape photography. With a 9.2mm body, it is the thinnest removable lens on the market. You can put it in your pocket and always have it ready for action. This makes it perfect for travelling as well as for everyday snapshots.

Advanced surface technology

The main feature of the SMC series is the SMC Coating multi-layer surface, which maximises light transmission, helping to increase the sharpness and the colour contrast of the resultant photographs. The front lens is equipped with a protective fluoride-based SP coating, which prevents dirt and grease from clinging to the lens and makes maintenance much easier. This unique protective layer repels also water and facilitates the removal of greasy dirt, such as fingerprints.
