The ENERMAX Platimax power supply exhausts all the possibilities of DC optimisation, but the advantages don't end there. As the DC circuit is already at its technological peak, the Enermax engineers have focused on developing a more efficient transformer. This effort gave rise to the so-called "Dynamic Hybrid Transformer Topology", which can be divided into three basic parts:
1. Dynamic Resonant Transformer Array
It is based on a highly efficient resonance topology, which is used for example in LCD monitors. The major noticeable change to PCB is an additional resonant choke.
2. Dynamic Voltage Boosting Transforming
First, the capacitors are charged with alternating current (AC) from the wall socket, which ensures continuous AC supply of the transformers according to DC consumption of your computer. Up to now, the capacitors have been charged statically, meaning they lost too much power at low loads. The Enermax Revolution87+ series of capacitors are charged with dynamic voltages – according to the required system power. That way, Enermax is able to increase the efficiency significantly.
3. Dynamic Frequencies Transforming
Transformers step the alternating current up or down. In the meantime, a part of the input power is lost. Enermax has been able to optimise this process using dynamic frequencies. The transformers work with a wider frequency range in line with the variable consumption of system components, meaning Enermax is able to reduce energy losses radically.
The ENERMAX Platimax's modular cables make the installation a whole lot easier – for example the cables that are always used are fixed. This will help eliminate the clutter in the cabinet and optimise the air flow. There is no doubt that this is a PSU of the future, demonstrated for example by 10/12-pin connectors for future energy-intensive components.
In addition to its unrivalled performance, Enermax Platimax delivers top performance that ranges from 90-95% in 230 V network. Moreover, it does not require any minimal consumption, making it an ideal component for various hybrid CPU/GPU solutions. Thanks to an improved and highly efficient 5 V stand-by (+5 VSB) circuit combined with a ErP/EuP Lot 6 motherboard, it can offer less than 1 W consumption in standby mode. Cooling with the 13.9 cm fan with the patented Twister Bearing Technology then delivers efficient and ultra-quiet cooling, supported by the long lifespan of the fan, which rotates very slowly at low loads, making it almost inaudible, not to speak of minimum waste heat.
The power supply packs four 12-volt rails whose maximum independent current load is 25 A, with a combined load being up to a maximum of 62 A, all with minimal waves. The Enermax Platimax is simply a state-of-the-art PSU, as demonstrated not only by the fact that it can supply 825 W for 60 seconds, despite its maximum being 750 watts, but also by boasting a full set of Japanese electrolytic capacitors capable of operating at up to 105 °C ambient temperature.
Other interesting features include the SpeedGuard fan speed ??control that ensures optimal cooling and minimal noise; the HeatGuard feature, which makes sure that the fan keeps rotating for 30-60 seconds after shutting down the computer to extend the lifespan of the components; the CordGuard protecting the connected power cord against unintentional pulling, and the SafeGuard, which includes a wide set of protection features against network fluctuations and high impacts.
