System type
The soundbar can be either active or passive. Active systems have their own amplifier, so you don't have to worry about anything. On the other hand, passive speakers need an external amplifier to function, from which the sound is directed to the individual speakers.
Number of channels
The number of channels a soundbar has is undoubtedly a key parameter in the quest for quality listening. This property refers to the number of independent audio signals that can be reproduced simultaneously. An example would be two-channel stereo sound, where each channel represents one ear. A classic TV soundbar is installed under the TV screen and only sends sound from the front, but with more sophisticated techniques you can simulate multi-channel (4/5/7.1) speaker sets to create surround sound. If the device includes real rear speakers, spatial localization is almost always more faithful and accurate.

AI features are available on Samsung TVs with NPU processors (Q70C and above for 2023, Q70D and above for 2024, QN70F and above for 2025, M80H and above for 2026, and The Frame and The Frame Pro models from 2024-2026). ⁶ Supports connection of up to 5 devices if all models are from 2026, and up to 3 devices if all models are from 2023-2025. ⁷ The images were generated using AI tools. ⁸ Sound optimization in Samsung Gaming Hub may vary by region and TV model. ⁹ The game console is sold separately. Compatible devices may vary. ¹⁰ Requires a mobile device running Android 9.0 or higher or iOS 15.0 or higher (subject to change with software updates) with the SmartThings app installed. ¹¹ Each device must be connected to a Wi-Fi network. ¹² You must download and install the SmartThings app. ¹³ A Samsung user account is required. ¹⁴ Group playback can support up to ten devices and must be connected to a 5 GHz network within the same Wi-Fi network. ¹⁵ Available features may vary by region, service provider, network environment or mobile device and are subject to change without notice. ¹⁶ Available on Bluetooth or Wi-Fi compatible Samsung TVs. ¹⁷ Available on Bluetooth compatible Samsung TVs.
Active speakers have a custom built-in amplifier (typically a PC speakers). Conversely, passive systems require an external amplifier, from which the sound goes to each speaker.
The number of channels refers to the number of independent audio signals that can be reproduced simultaneously. An example might be 2-channel stereo sound, where each channel represents one ear (left and right), or 5.1 channel surround sound, which has five full channels (front left, center, front right, rear left, rear right) and one channel for the subwoofer.

Subwoofers are speakers designed to reproduce low frequencies, usually referred to as bass. There are two basic types of subwoofers: active and passive. Active subwoofers have their own amplifier integrated directly into the unit, while passive subwoofers require an external amplifier for power. Active subwoofers are often considered more user-friendly because they do not require additional equipment to function, while passive subwoofers can provide a higher level of control over the sound.

Creating a better world – the immodest vision which has driven Samsung since its inception in 1938. The courage to invest in the development of new technologies is typical for the company, as evidenced by a series of visionary solutions. Currently, Samsung is the largest group of companies in South Korea and the third largest worldwide conglomerate by revenue.
Samsung consumers associate the brand with high-quality consumer electronics. It is known for its Galaxy series, one of the best and most sought after mobile phones in its class. One must also mention Samsung TVs, where the company has long been at the cutting edge in technology and quality. The competence of the company is much broader.
