The SIGMA 150-600 mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM SPORTS is dustproof, waterproof, and freezeproof. It is designed for professional use with many user-adjustable options. It consists of 24 optical elements in 16 groups with FLD and SLD lenses. What does it mean? The SLD lens is made of low-dispersion glass and compensates for image scaling and chromatic aberration, resulting in better optical qualities of the lens. The FLD lens is even more interesting, as it is made of glass with ultra-low light scattering and transmits more light than ELD or SLD lenses. This ensures colour correction, sharper pictures, and improved optical quality.

HSM in its name indicates a lens with an ultrasonic motor drive. These are characteristic for their quiet operation and fast autofocus. DG marks lenses designed for digital SLR cameras. OS is simple enough – it means optical stabiliser.
