The modern Sigma 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 DC MACRO HSM lens boasts a variety of top-class parameters for enthusiasts as well as professional photographers. It consists of a total of 17 optical elements in 13 groups. It's equipped with aspheric glass and FLD and SLD lenses. What exactly does that mean, you ask? An SLD lens is made of low-light glass and compensates for image magnification and chromatic aberration, resulting in higher optical quality of the lens. The FLD lens, however, is the kicker. It is made from the glass with the lowest scattering of light. Compared to ELD or SLD lenses, it has the best light permeability. It ensures colour correction, increased sharpness and further improved optical quality.

The MACRO abbreviation refers to a lens with a short focal distance, which enables you to get amazing close-up photos of flowers, animals or other objects. HSM, on the other hand, refers to a motor-driven lens that uses ultrasonic waves to operate. This makes the autofocus absolutely silent and fast. Finally, the DC abbreviation means the lens is only designed for DSLR cameras with APS-C imaging chips.
