From 300mm telephoto to 800mm ultra-telephoto this new lens provides a constant fast maximum aperture and is optimized for digital SLR cameras. An ultra telephoto as no other camera or lens manufacturer offers the serious photographer! Featuring a constant aperture of F5.6 throughout the entire zoom range, this lens is ideal for photographing wildlife when there is no way of controlling the distance of the animal to the camera. With a simple turn of the zoom ring, the photographer can instantly adjust the composition of the image without moving or disturbing the subject. Similarly, the zoom accommodates sporting photography such as football or surfing where the rapidly changing distance of the action requires massive changes in focal length in a matter of seconds. The new Super Multi Layer (SML) anti-reflective coating and lens design reduce flare and ghost, which is a common problem with digital cameras and also creates an optimum colour balance.

The internal focusing system ensures the overall length of the lens does not change during focusing, ensuring convenient handling and ease of use. The Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) ensures an ultra-quiet, high-speed autofocus as well as full-time manual focusing capability, making it possible to manually focus without leaving AF mode.

A 46mm filter can be inserted near the rear of the lens, and a circular polarising filter (included) can be used in situ. A heavy duty tripod bush is included as standard for use with tripods and monopods. Multiple threaded holes allow accurate balancing of lens and camera body. This is also designed as an easy grip when carrying the lens.

In manual focus mode, it is compatible with Sigma 1.4x and Sigma 2x converters. Also included is a removable sun visor .
