Scene modes adjust the camera settings according to the specific requirements of certain conditions. For example, Night Scene Portrait mode sets the flash device, adjusts the exposure, and so on.

Scene modes are used primarily by amateur photographers who are learning to shoot in different conditions. They can vary according to the make of camera, althouth most manufacturers offer similar options (albeit with different names).
