STR-DN1080 has a sophisticated and powerful design

Each structural detail of the STR-DN1080 has been designed to achieve a more accurate and powerful sound. Top quality components and techniques are used, such as surface-mounted pure copper resistors, newly developed electrolytic capacitors and a special ES-type solder. Together they provide the tone and high resolution clarity. The sound does not change at high volume, as there is a powerful power supply whose copper shielded transformer has a high capacity for deep bass.

On a stable foundation is an extraordinary amplifier

The amplifier circuits make the most of the solid base for a more powerful, high definition sound. The redesigned STR-DN1080 preamplifier has gained a competitive edge. In particular, one-point grounding and an independent power supply ensure clearer sound reproduction. Instead of a conventional resin PCB, the amplifier uses an epoxy glass PCB which reduces internal vibrations and distortion. High sound pressure deformation is suppressed by the sophisticated Frame and Beam chassis, and an unusually shaped heatsink supports reliable heat removal when operating at high load.

Virtual surround sound with S-Force PRO Front Surround and Phantom Surround Back

You can add more additional speakers, yet you will hear the surround sound from the first moments. S-Force PRO Front Surround technology creates a virtual surround field even when two speakers are connected. Do you already have 5 speakers? Phantom Surround Back mimics the sound of the rear speakers, so you get full 7-channel movie sound. Even if the conditions for speaker placement are not perfect, the Sony STR-DN1080 can faithfully simulate the ideal location.
