The Petzl Neox Light Gray belay device is suitable for sport climbing on both indoor climbing walls and outdoor rock faces, and is primarily designed for belaying a lead climber. It features an integrated wheel which allows you to pay out slack quickly and smoothly while lead climbing and clipping quickdraws. When lowering a climber, you'll appreciate the ergonomically shaped handle, which provides comfortable speed control. The device is compatible with single ropes from 8.5 to 11mm in diameter. In combination with the cam-assisted mechanism, it provides a 3:1 mechanical advantage, so less force is needed to control the lowering speed. The effect remains the same regardless of the diameter of the rope used. The Petzl Neox Gray belay device has aluminium side plates, while the friction plate, cam and wheel are made of stainless steel and the handle is made of recycled nylon.

Using the Petzl Neox Light Gray belay device safely
When the rope is weighted, for example when catching a fall, the wheel locks and activates the cam, which clamps the rope. This assisted braking contributes to a more comfortable and safer belay. A diagram directly on the body of the belay device helps with correct rope installation. Standard Petzl belay techniques are used for paying out slack and catching falls, and you must always keep a hand on the brake side of the rope. The ergonomic handle makes it easy to unblock the rope and lower a climber smoothly.
