The Studiologic Sledge 2.0 is an upgraded version of the renowned Sledge synthesizer, with new features and sonic innovations that put this instrument above all competitors, thanks to its mix of pure synthesis and samples. In addition to incredible sound and user-friendly interaction with the vintage control panel, other new features expand the power and versatility of the instrument. Studiologic and Waldorf Labs (working as a joint team) have made the new Sledge 2.0 a more flexible and adaptable tool than a "pure" synthesizer can be. Newly added is the ability to play in Dual Mode, where you can "load" your own samples into the internal 60 MB flash memory and effect them with the built-in instrument effects.
With Sledge 2.0 lyou can now play two sounds simultaneously, in Split or Layer mode. The function is controlled by a new page in Global functions and allows you to use two sounds for different parts of the keyboard (in Split mode), or both sounds for the whole keyboard (in Layer mode). Like single sounds, Dual Sound combinations of two sounds can be permanently stored in any of the 1000 available presets.
The new Global page allows you to use Pitch and Hold independently for "lower" and "upper" sounds in Dual mode, so that in practice you can use Pitch Bend on the sound of the upper part of the keyboard (e.g. solo parts) while using the Hold pedal to control only the lower part of the split keyboard (for holding the sound, playing a groove loop, or as a Sustain for a piano sound). You can also use this function in reverse, or you can simply apply Pitch Bend and Hold to both parts of the keyboard, or for both sounds in Dual mode.
The new Reverb + Delay feature allows you to mix the two effects - Reverb retains the parameters stored in the Preset, while Delay parameters (delay and level) can be changed in real time and added to Reverb. Audio samples and samples can be loaded into the internal 60 MB flash memory, which can then be played back using the OSC 1 while changing various parameters on the control panel, adding additional oscillators, setting filters, envelopes and effects. With this feature, you can constantly expand the sonic possibilities of the instrument and create completely new combinations of synthesis and samples.
The total maximum number of notes that can be played simultaneously has been expanded to 24, allowing for the comfortable playing of even dual sounds that can be obtained from the combination of synthesis and samples.
Sledge Spectre is a free application downloadable from the manufacturer's website. With this app you can easily edit samples (keyboard range, tuning and other parameters) and send them to the instrument via USB port.
