The lid can be slotted into two different working positions to select a cooking mode - fast cooking with minimal energy use (lid closed) and cooking without overflow (gap between pan and lid for steam to escape). If you need to open the lid during cooking, for instance to stir or taste the food or to add more ingredients in, the lid can be securely slotted into its holder, which ensures any fluid on the bottom of the lid flows back into the pot. Your kitchen will remain perfectly clean!
