Board Games & Brain Teasers

Social games and brain teasers let you have fun with your friends and family while learning new things at the same time. The market is overflowing with all kinds of social games, so choosing well can be a challenge. Before buying, consider the game’s target audience, its subject (fast cars, nature, sci-fi, history ...) and the gaming experience of your teammates.

Who are you buying it for and what do they like?

The game’s target audience is related to its type – is it a simple game meant only to entertain, or is it something more complicated and strategic? Is the game competitive or do players work together? Also important is the number of players (usually 2-6), playtime (often under 1 hour for family games), and the graphic design and language.

Choosing social games by type

  • Children's games - fairy tale-themed, educational, designed to improve perception and speech skills, but often beautifully made and illustrated. Their target audience is mainly children of 3 years and older. Other popular types include memory games, dominoes, or children's cards.
  • Family games - often based on chance, which makes them playable for children as young as 3 years. These include the well-known games such as Ludo or many modern games such as Dobble, Carcassone or Ubongo. You can choose from inexpensive game sets.
  • Card games - most of them are recommended for children of 8 years and older, generally involve 2-6 players, and have various themes. Well-known examples include Black Peter or modern games such as Bang!, Dixit, or Uno.
  • Strategy games - board or card games that are not based on chance and are generally aimed at more experienced players. Wage tactical battles using diplomacy, guile, or military forces and exercise your imagination and attention to detail. Strategy games have a wide range of topics, so there is something for everyone!
  • Trivia games - fun and educational games for different age categories; you can find games about nature, history, geography, sports, music, and languages.
  • Party games - ideal for a party with friends. Before buying, consider the appropriate age range (children or adults) and check the minimum and maximum number of players.
  • Classic games - Scrabble, Monopoly, Chess, Checkers, Dominoes, Ludo, bowling, billiards, or Mikado. What game will you teach your children first? There are also practical game sets.
  • Brain teasers - for all players with a keen mind and skilful hands. Rubik's Cube, Hedgehog in the Cage, and many other logical brain teasers designed to exercise your mental faculties and provide hours of fun; aimed mainly at school children.
