The TP-Link EAP650 Wall with Omada is a wall-mounted Wi-Fi 6 access point that operates in dual-band mode. It provides a combined transmission speed of up to 2976Mbps, split between the 5GHz band (2402Mbps) and the 2.4GHz band (574Mbps). This Wi-Fi 6 access point enables discreet installation into a standard EU junction box and is suitable for environments such as hotel rooms, student halls, or offices. Advanced Wi-Fi 6 technologies
This access point uses the 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) standard for dual-band communication. It reaches speeds of up to 2402Mbps on the 5GHz band and up to 574Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. To increase data throughput and transmission efficiency, it implements technologies such as 1024-QAM and a 160MHz channel. Four internal antennas, combined with Beamforming technology, actively direct the signal to specific client devices, improving connection stability and range. The long OFDM symbol contributes to better coverage and signal reliability, even in more demanding environments.
WiFi access point installation, coverage and connectivity
The access point covers an area of approximately 40m² and serves over 100 simultaneously connected devices. Its design, with dimensions of 4.22 × 8.6 × 8.6cm, allows for mounting in a standard 86mm EU wall junction box. It is powered exclusively via 802.3af/at PoE standards over an Ethernet cable, which also functions as the uplink. The presence of a second gigabit port for downlink enables a direct wired connection for end devices, such as IP phones, printers or smart TVs, without the need for additional network elements in the room.
Centralised management in the Omada SDN ecosystem
Full integration into the Omada Software-Defined Networking (SDN) platform provides a centralised tool for managing the entire network. You can manage it using hardware controllers (Omada OC200/OC300), a locally installed software controller, or a cloud-based controller. Access and configuration via the cloud interface or the Omada mobile app simplifies network monitoring and maintenance from anywhere. Seamless Roaming technology (802.11k/v/r) manages the smooth transition of clients between individual access points without interrupting the connection.
Comprehensive network security for the TP-Link EAP650 Wall with Omada WiFi access point
Network security is provided by support for the modern WPA3 Personal/Enterprise encryption standard, which is complemented by backward compatibility with the older WPA2 and WPA protocols. To manage guest access, a Captive Portal is available, with authentication options via SMS or vouchers. Network segmentation using up to 16 SSIDs and VLAN support effectively separates guest traffic from the internal network. Other security features include MAC address filtering, wireless isolation between clients, and a rogue access point detection function that protects the network from external threats.
