WD 2.5" My Passport 2TB red

If you need to transfer a modest amount of data, a flash disk will do just fine. An external disk, however, has much more space available than a flash disk, even though it's similarly compact and portable. The disk WD 2.5" My Passport 2TB red is a HDD. An HDD is the classic disk with magnetic platters. Its popularity is mainly due to its affordable price.

What Capacity Will You Need?

HDDs are available in various sizes, including very large ones. 500GB is often thought to be a good starting point, although even 2TB is fairly common nowadays.

For classic hard disks, speed is derived from how fast the platter spins. Slower and cheaper disks rotate at 5400 RPM, while the faster (and often externally powered) drives have a speed of 7200 RPM. The WD 2.5" My Passport 2TB red happens to be one of the former. The amount of time it takes you to copy files also depends on the connector type, for instance, USB 2.0 can never surpass USB 3.0. This external disk features a USB 3,0 (3,1 gen1) connector.

Dobrý den, včera jsem si tento disk vyzvedl v alzaboxu. Rovnou jsem večer vyzkoušel zálohovat data a přenos se mi zdál hodně pomalý (psalo to cca 12 MB/sec). Zkoušel jsem 2 notebooky, jeden z nich byl dell p20t a druhý o něco starší Asus. U obou byla rychlost podobná. Měl jsem disk nejdřív naformátovat nebo provést jinou akci? Díky moc.
