Other Hard Drive Features
Standard HDDs are notable for their construction. Inside the drive there is a mechanism with moving platters, complete with disk read/write heads. These mechanical parts don't take shocks and impact well, but at the same time you get a great combo of a low price and great storage capacity. The key parameter that determines the speed of a platter hard disk is the number of platter revolutions per minute, generally known as RPM. In case of the WD Purple Pro 24TB, you get 7200 rev/min revolutions per minute. This is welcome news for people with higher requirements, such as graphic designers, gamers, video editors, and people who tend to use large amounts of data. File access speed and stability is also influenced the embedded buffer memory known as cache. The Western Digital HDD includes a 512 MB cache that keeps the last written data for their speedy reading.
Connecting the Western Digital Hard Drive
If you want to mount the WD Purple Pro 24TB in your laptop or other device, it must be equipped with a 3.5" slot. All data transfer takes place via the SATA III interface with a speed of 3 Gbit/s. The technology ranks among the best HDD data transfer options available and delivers a throughput of 600 MB/s.
