Advanced drive security
A two-stage system protects your stored data. The first layer is password protection, which you activate in the included software. The second security component is integrated 256-bit AES hardware encryption. Since the encryption processes are performed directly by the drive's hardware, it does not tax your computer's system resources or reduce transfer speeds. The drive continuously protects your files without affecting performance.
Backup automation
With the included Acronis True Image for Western Digital software, you can schedule fully automatic backups of files, folders, or your entire system. In the application, you set when and how often the drive should save data, and the process then runs without any further assistance from you. The application also includes active protection against ransomware, which monitors the system and prevents malicious programs from encrypting your data without authorisation.
Compact design and responsible manufacturing
With its slim 2.5" design, this portable HDD fits in the palm of your hand or a backpack compartment. Its construction is built for frequent travel. The manufacturer keeps the environment in mind during production, which is why the drive's enclosure is made from more than 50% recycled plastics. The packaging material also comes from over 50% recycled pulp and is fully recyclable.
