Meguiar's Iron Removing Spray Clay contains additives that turn the product red upon contact with iron-based (Fe) contaminants. This effect isn't proof of the product's cleaning power, but simply an indicator of whether the contaminants on the surface contain iron. If surfaces are heavily soiled but contain no iron-based contaminants, the product will not change colour but will still clean the surface of all other dirt residues just as effectively. It is an effective product for chemical paint decontamination. The product is for the rapid removal of stubborn iron-based contaminants (brake dust, fallout, etc.) and industrial fallout. It also loosens contaminants like rail dust and iron oxides. Decontaminating the surface makes subsequent polishing easier and more effective, and enhances the performance and durability of the paint protection. For best results, combine with mechanical decontamination using a clay bar. Plus, it's easy to apply.
