Canon EOS R100 Digital Camera Review
Canon's latest mirrorless camera, the EOS R100, is incredibly small, lightweight and not much bigger than the former compact cameras of the cine film days. The body of the camera is available in a single, i.e. black colour version and at first glance it resembles the aforementioned predecessor Canon EOS R50, but it has several differences compared to it. On the one hand, the new product is a bit smaller and lighter, but the differences are not too big and can be described as cosmetic. However, for the record, the camera body itself weighs 356 grams, including the battery and memory card. The dimensions are 116 × 86 × 69 mm, which is really very small for a mirrorless camera and the device is almost pocketable. Read the full review here.
Canon RF-S 18-45 mm IS STM lens
The daily survey starts here
Capture everyday moments with a lens that's ideal for capturing great quality images and videos. With a practical zoom range and close focusing, this lens for the EOS R-series APS-C sensor cameras is perfect for capturing real-life situations. The 4 EV Optical Image Stabilizer of this compact, lightweight and quiet lens provides exceptional versatility to overcome camera shake even in low light.
Key Features of the Canon RF-S 18-45 mm IS STM
- Unique 18-45mm focal length range
- Ideal for everyday photography and videography
- Weighs only 155 g - a great travel companion
- The lens is protected against dust, splash water and frost
- Fluorine coating on the front lens repels dirt
- Smooth and silent focusing operation is ideal for shooting videos
The ideal lens to start exploring
Capture life in all its glory with a compact APS-C sensor lens for EOS R Series cameras that has a zoom range of 29-72mm (35mm film equivalent). It's ideal for travel, family photography or even vlogging and can be easily stored in your bag.
Sharp and stable images and videos when shooting handheld
When you have 4 EV image stabilization on hand, you will rarely use flash. The lens will give you certainty and stability when shooting, and you get an even greater degree of compensation when using a compatible camera.
Smooth and silent focusing with creative controls
The STM motor enables smooth, quiet and precise focusing, while the f/4.5-6.3 circular aperture with seven blades is ideal for creating artistic highlights in the out-of-focus area or "bokeh".
Experiment with manual focusing
Go manual and focus up close thanks to the higher magnification in manual focus mode. It's the perfect solution for capturing objects in exquisite detail, allowing you to get up to 15cm with 0.25x magnification.
Lightweight and compact - ideal for every day
The combined weight of the RF-S 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM lens and the EOS R mirrorless camera with APS-C sensor is considerably less than that of a DSLR. Lower weight means you can use the camera for longer and never miss a moment.
Canon RF-S 18-45mm IS STM Lens Review
The Canon RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens is a typical representative of the category of basic set zoom lenses and its mechanical design corresponds to this. The whole lens is completely all-plastic, including the Canon RF mount and most likely also including the lenses in the optical system (but this is rather a guess, which cannot be confirmed in any way - the manufacturer does not provide similar information). As a whole, such information may seem negative, but this is very relative, because it can be seen from many perspectives - for example, current plastics are already of very high quality and their use makes the lens extremely lightweight and, last but not least, also cheap (for example, aspherical lenses, if they were glass and ground, would be many times more expensive to produce and thus, of course, the whole lens). Canon RF-S 55-210 mm IS STM lens
Get closer to the details, wherever you go
The Canon RF-S 55-210mm f/5-7.1 IS STM is a compact telephoto lens designed for the EOS R system APS-C mirrorless cameras. It offers a versatile range of focal lengths ideal for capturing distant subjects, portraits and travel snapshots. With optical image stabilization and a quiet STM motor, it's a great choice not only for photography but also for shooting video. Its lightweight design and quality optics make it an ideal complement to basic lenses, expanding creative possibilities without a significant burden on your gear.
Key Features of the Canon RF-S 55-210 mm IS STM
- Universal telephoto lens with a focal length of 55-210 mm
- Ideal for shooting sports, nature and portraits with beautiful blurred backgrounds.
- Optical image stabilization up to 4.5 EV
- Compact and lightweight - weighs just 270 g
- STM motor for smooth and silent autofocusing
- High-quality optical design with multiple lenses
Extend your range
Capture distant details and landscapes, as well as amazing travel experiences and charming images of people that fill the frame. Use the telephoto lens to blur the background of the image and separate objects from the background. This 3.8x zoom with a focal length of 55-210mm offers great creative control.
Capture details from afar
Turn the zoom ring to reveal details you've never seen before. At a focal length of 210mm, the RF-S 55-210mm F5-7.1 IS STM can provide a maximum magnification of 0.28x, helping you focus without disturbing your subject or casting a shadow, ideal for spontaneous close-ups.
Advanced Image Stabilisation
Thanks to the 4.5 EV optical image stabiliser, you can pick up the camera and use it straight away to achieve extremely stable results in telephoto range, even in low light.
Get creative with beautiful highlights and bokeh
Experiment with highlighting in the out-of-focus area thanks to a near-circular 7-blade aperture, and take advantage of the telephoto performance and high aperture that allows you to reach shallower depth of field, separate your subject from the background and capture a beautiful bokeh effect with exceptional depth and impact
Smooth and silent focusing with intuitive controls
With the combined lens control and manual focus ring, you can quickly switch between different modes and shoot and record like a pro. Focusing the lens with the STM motor is virtually noiseless.
A lens that works intuitively with the camera
Thanks to the RF mount, the RF-S 55-210mm F5-7.1 IS STM lens works with EOS R-series cameras and enables correction and implementation of a wide range of image enhancement options, including "focus breathing" correction in film mode.
Canon RF-S 55-210 mm IS STM Lens Review
At first glance, the new Canon RF-S 55-210 mm f/5-7.1 IS STM lens looks a bit funny, because the lens barrel itself has a slightly smaller diameter, than Canon's own RF bayonet, so it tapers slightly away from the bayonet, which is quite unusual, because most of the time it's the other way around. However, it's not just a small diameter, the lens as a whole is very small in relation to the focal length, even taking into account the fact that it's not a full-frame and a lens for the smaller APS-C format (see the Canon RF-S lens designation). You just don't see a telephoto lens this small right away, even though its longest focal length is "only" 210 mm. However, the equivalent conversion of the focal length to 35mm film corresponds to a much more interesting and usable range of about 88-336mm. Read the full review here.
