The Grandstream GWN7661 is a wall-mounted WiFi 6 access point designed for discreet in-wall installation. It operates in dual-band with the 802.11ax standard and achieves a total wireless throughput of 1.77Gbps. This in-wall access point is designed for environments with high client density, such as offices, hotels, or educational institutions. It uses 2×2:2 MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies to efficiently serve many devices at once. In addition to wireless connectivity, it integrates a total of 4 gigabit Ethernet ports for connecting wired devices. The built-in controller also manages up to 50 local GWN APs, making it easy to build and expand a robust network.

Performance and the Wi-Fi 6 standard
The access point uses the modern Wi-Fi 6 standard (802.11ax), which increases network efficiency and performance, especially in congested environments. It operates concurrently in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands, achieving an aggregate transfer speed of 1774.5Mbps. For smooth data transmission and serving multiple clients at once, it combines 2×2:2 MU-MIMO with DL/UL OFDMA and Beamforming. These features optimise data flows, reduce latency, and direct the signal towards client devices, improving overall network throughput.
Robust network security
To protect wireless communication and the integrity of the entire network, the device supports the latest WPA3 encryption standard. The security architecture is enhanced by a suite of features that protect the device and network against unauthorised access and external threats. Key elements include anti-hacking secure boot, which verifies firmware integrity on every startup, and digital signatures. Each device also has a unique security certificate and a randomly generated default password, making it difficult to breach.
Flexible management
Network management is flexible thanks to several available platforms. The access point has a built-in controller for centralised management of up to 50 local GWN APs. For larger networks, the GDMS cloud platform is available, which does not limit the number of managed APs. Administrators can also use the GWN Manager software for local management or the mobile app.
Connectivity
This in-wall access point serves over 500 concurrent Wi-Fi clients within a range of up to 100m. In addition to high wireless capacity, it also provides extensive wired connection options. It includes a total of 4 gigabit ports: 1 uplink port for network connection with PoE/PoE+ support, and 3 downlink ports. Of these, 2 ports support PSE (Power Sourcing Equipment), which allows you to power other devices, such as IP phones or cameras, directly from the access point. This reduces the need for additional power adaptors. Power is supplied exclusively by Ethernet (PoE/PoE+) according to 802.3af/at standards, which simplifies in-wall installation without needing a nearby electrical socket and supports a clean interior look.
