Remmers Insulating Primer PLUS 5L

Remmers Insulation Primer Plus is a universal water-based paint that serves as both a primer and an intermediate coat. You can use it indoors and outdoors on a wide range of substrates, including wood, metal, and hard plastics. The paint provides anti-corrosion protection for metal substrates and, on wooden surfaces, prevents the bleed-through of tannins that could cause discolouration of the final coat. Thanks to its low solvent content, it has only a mild odour.

Wide adhesion to various substrates

Remmers primer has very good adhesion to many types of surfaces. In addition to wood, you can apply it to metal materials such as galvanised steel, aluminium, copper, or brass. The coating is also suitable for hard plastics like PVC, PUR, polyester, acrylic, or melamine resins (HPL/CPL). It also adheres well to sound existing coatings based on alkyd and acrylic resins, as well as to powder coatings.

Protection for both wood and metal

The paint serves two protective functions. For metal substrates, it provides anti-corrosion protection. For wooden structures, especially when subsequently using light-coloured topcoats, it prevents the bleed-through of water-soluble tannins and other extractive substances. This prevents unwanted discolouration of the final coat. The paint also helps to regulate moisture in the substrate, which contributes to the long-term stability of the entire coating system.

Properties and use of Remmers paint

The paint is suitable for dimensionally stable and semi-stable wooden structures, such as windows, doors, shutters, cladding, garden sheds, or fences. Thanks to its water-based formula, it has a low solvent content and only a mild odour. The coating is weather-resistant and is supplied ready for immediate use without the need for further thinning. After drying, it leaves a matt finish on the surface.
