The Wireless Brightness Sensor (HmIP-SLO) for outdoor use is part of the Homematic IP smart home system. The weatherproof light sensor offers a wide range of applications in conjunction with other Homematic IP devices. The device measures brightness values in lux and then transmits the measured values to the Central Unit (HmIP-HAP) and connected Homematic IP devices that respond according to a predefined configuration. The device can be used both indoors and outdoors as a light brightness sensor with modular usage options depending on brightness values and interfacing with other Homematic IP products via the free Homematic IP mobile app.

Variable installation and smart automation
Wireless communication and battery operation offer the possibility of variable sensor installation virtually anywhere in the outdoor environment. In combination with other Homematic IP devices, such as actuators for controlling blinds, roller shutters or awnings, the smart home system can be easily automated, setting up different types of scenarios and adapting them to the current lighting conditions. The IP43 rainproof design and operating temperature range from -20 °C to +55 °C guarantee reliable operation even in the harshest conditions. The threshold values for the brightness intensity or the switching time of the integrated sensor can be individually and continuously adjusted via the Homematic IP mobile app.
Smart features and easy installation
If it starts to get dark or dusk, the device is activated and the system performs a preset operation or scenario - for example, switching on outdoor lighting and lowering the outdoor blinds, or automatically extending the awning in strong sunlight. Two replaceable AA power batteries allow for minimal maintenance operation and ensure a long life of up to three years. As soon as their capacity is reduced to a minimum, the user is informed of this via the Homematic IP application. Thanks to its compact size and battery operation, the brightness sensor (HmIP-SLO) offers easy installation without the need for wiring and includes mounting material (dowels and screws). The device is ideal for versatile use in homes, offices, businesses and healthcare settings and supports integration with Google Home and Home Connect Plus.
