Game Progress Splendor Duel
In Splendor Duel, you become the master of a jewellery guild in Renaissance Europe. Your goal is to defeat your rival in the production of the most beautiful and valuable jewels, which you achieve by cleverly collecting gems from the game plan, then using them to buy jewel cards and gaining the favour of the royal court. The game offers three ways to win - either collect 20 victory points, or get 10 crowns, or collect 10 points on cards of the same suit. Each turn you are faced with an important decision - to focus on one strategy or to react flexibly to your opponent's moves. A key element of the game is the unique system of collecting gems from the game board. Each turn you can take up to three chips that are adjacent to each other horizontally, vertically or screen sizely - this rule opens up a multitude of tactical possibilities and forces you to constantly think several moves ahead.
History of the game and its creators
The board game Splendor Duel was launched in 2022 by Space Cowboys as a standalone game following the successful Splendor from 2014. It was developed by French game design duo Marc André and Bruno Cathala. The Italian artist Davide Tosello took care of the beautiful illustrations. The game quickly gained popularity among players and critics. In 2022, it won the Golden Dice (Tric Trac d'Or) award in the duel games category, and in 2023 it won the Golden Geek award for best two-player board game.
