The Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 80 960GB external drive is used for securely storing and transferring data. This SSD storage device, with a capacity of 960GB and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface, is unlocked via its built-in colour touchscreen. You can access your files by entering a numeric PIN or a passphrase. The whole process is intuitive and requires no software installation, making the drive completely independent of the operating system. It works on Windows, macOS, Linux, and ChromeOS platforms and serves as a physical alternative to cloud services for protecting company information or copyrighted content.
Data protection is provided by FIPS 197 certified XTS-AES 256-bit hardware encryption. Integrated security mechanisms prevent Brute Force attacks. By default, the drive cryptographically erases its contents after 15 unsuccessful password attempts. The digitally signed firmware also prevents exploitation via BadUSB attacks.
The drive supports the creation of two separate passwords – one for the administrator and one for the user. The administrator defines security rules, such as password length from 6 to 64 characters or the use of alphanumeric characters. If a user forgets their password, the administrator can restore access to the stored data and set a new user password. The passphrase also accepts the space character to make it easier to remember.
Two read-only modes protect against malware when connecting to untrusted computers. These modes block any malicious files from being written, thus protecting the contents from ransomware. The body of the drive is a combination of zinc and plastic. The package includes a neoprene travel case and two cables for connecting devices with both USB-C and USB-A connectors.
