Performance of the LaCie d2 Professional 8TB external drive
Inside is an enterprise-class Seagate IronWolf Pro hard drive, built for sustained workloads and reliable performance. The transfer speed noticeably shortens the time needed to back up or copy projects. This performance supports smooth video editing directly from the drive or efficient browsing of large RAW galleries without unnecessary waiting. The drive is optimised for handling the large data volumes required by professional photographers and video editors.
Aluminium construction
The body of the drive is a single block of aluminium, which increases its mechanical durability. The aluminium also acts as a passive heatsink and actively helps to dissipate heat from the internal components. The system is complemented by a quiet fan that maintains a stable operating temperature even during intensive use and won't disturb you when you're concentrating. This combination supports effective heat dissipation from the drive and contributes to its long-term reliability.
Universal connectivity and included software
The drive connects via a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface through a modern USB-C connector. It maintains backward compatibility with the older USB 3.0 standard and works with both Thunderbolt 3 and 4 ports, confirming compatibility across different platforms. The included LaCie Toolkit software simplifies setting up automatic backups and folder synchronisation. It also includes a two-month Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps membership and a five-year Rescue Data Recovery Services plan.
