Eyebright infusion helps to refresh tired eyes and, when added to a bath, it revitalises the whole body. That is why it is often used in cosmetic products. Eyebright gets its Latin name, Euphrasia officinalis, from Euphrosyne, one of the famous Graces, goddesses of charm and beauty. Its common names like 'eye bright' and 'eye wort' refer to the fact that herbalists have long considered it an eye herb.
Boil 2 tablespoons in 300ml of water for 5 minutes, then infuse for 10 minutes in a covered container and strain. Use lukewarm. The infusion should always be freshly prepared.
This annual herb with its light-coloured blossoms has a slightly spicy aroma, with hints that can be detected in the beneficial, white wine-coloured infusion.
Do not use if you are hypersensitive to eyebright. For external use only. Do not discard the box, it serves as a package leaflet.
