Girl in ice
A highly acclaimed mystery novel that has sold over 1 million copies in English
After the body of a young woman is found under a layer of ice in a south London park, Detective Chief Inspector Erika Foster arrives on the scene. The victim, a beautiful girl from a powerful and wealthy family, seemed to have a perfect life. As Erika digs deeper, connections emerge between her murder and the deaths of three prostitutes who were strangled, bound and thrown into bodies of water across London.
What is the connection between the daughter of a powerful lobbyist who thinks he can influence the investigation and dead immigrant women? What dark secret did the girl in the ice hide?
The closer Erika gets to discovering the truth, the closer the killer gets to Erika. Detective Chief Inspector Foster's last case ended in disaster and the deaths of five officers, including her husband. Erica's career hangs in the balance as she must battle her own demons and a killer more terrifying than anyone she has faced in the past. Will it hit him before he strikes again?
"The author manages to evoke and sustain suspense and terror until the last page, even without the hectolitres of blood and the sordid details of the murders. The hidden and inarticulate evil in this case is more terrifying than the literal descriptions. Nevertheless, the book of almost 450 pages is really read in one breath and after reading it you will not be able to wait for the next part. "
- Aktuálně.cz"Robert Bryndza plunges the reader in exquisite style into the icy waters of London's suburbs, portraying an atmosphere of gnawingly creeping emotion, and the reader's desire to know who killed Andrea and what is really going on is as strong and unquenchable as a true English rain. Erika Foster won my warm sympathies and I was rooting for her from the very beginning, firmly believing that she would solve the case and somewhat wipe out the eyes of those fools who were throwing sticks under her feet in their manly perfection. "
- Narcistka.cz"In a word - excellent. This book is just amazing and I have nothing to fault it for. It will appeal to mystery readers and those reading the detective genre for the first time. The writing is incredibly readable, the plot flows quickly, there are no dead spots and no lengthy descriptions of settings or characters. "
