Již mírně starší model digitální zrcadlovky Nikon, přesto ale zajímavý a také cenově příznivý. Jako zatím jediná zrcadlovka Nikon je vybavena nejen Wi-Fi, ale i vestavěnou GPS jednotkou – ideální pro cestovatele. K tomu malé a lehké provedení s LCD monitorem na otočném kloubu, spousta funkcí a velmi kvalitní snímací čip s vysokým rozlišením a integrovaným čištěním. Akčnější fotografy potěší také rychlejší sériové snímání, kvalitní zaostřování s 39 ostřícími body a nechybí ani Full-HD video s plynulým snímáním 60 snímků za vteřinu. V této konkrétní sadě navíc s dvojicí vhodných lehkých objektivů s rychlým ostřením a výkonnou stabilizací.
Nevýhodou může být snad jen menší hledáček a také je nutno počítat s tím, že při použití Wi-Fi či GPS je znát zvýšená spotřeba energie, takže třeba na cesty rozhodně doporučuji náhradní baterii.
