The Philips TAM6500 microsystem is designed to play audio in your home from various types of media and wireless sources. The black unit integrates a CD player, digital radio receiver, and a wireless Bluetooth interface. It plays audio from CD, CD-R, CD-RW optical discs, and MP3-CDs, and also supports connecting USB flash drives. Its wooden cabinet design houses two built-in full-range speakers and is suitable for freestanding placement on a shelf or table. It is powered from the mains with an AC voltage of 100–240V at a frequency of 50/60Hz.
The sound system includes two built-in 3-inch (7.6cm) full-range speakers with an impedance of 6Ω. The total output power is up to 100W, with a rated RMS output power of 50W at 10% harmonic distortion. The integrated Bass Reflex design enhances the reproduction of deep bass tones in the room. The system's frequency response covers the frequency range from 50Hz to 20kHz. You can adjust the sound using Digital Sound Control (DSC), treble and bass controls, or the custom equaliser in the mobile app.
Wireless audio transmission uses Bluetooth 6.0 technology with a range of up to 30 metres with a clear line of sight. The standard supports A2DP and AVRCP profiles for streaming music from compatible mobile phones, tablets, or laptops. For classic Bluetooth connections, the system supports multi-point connection for pairing multiple sources simultaneously. Signal transmission uses modern SBC, AAC, and LC3 audio codecs, which ensure a more stable wireless connection and more accurate sound reproduction throughout your home.
The Philips TAM6500 microsystem contains a slot-loading disc drive and supports CD, CD-R, and CD-RW media. The USB 2.0 port on the front panel is used for connecting flash drives to play WAV and FLAC audio files as well as classic MP3 files. The USB port also supports charging of connected mobile devices. The digital RDS tuner receives radio stations in the FM and DAB/DAB+ bands, with the option to save a total of 40 presets (20 FM and 20 DAB stations). Automatic digital tuning and band scanning are also available.
Auracast technology serves to wirelessly connect multiple compatible speakers into a single shared audio network. You can broadcast the audio signal from the Philips TAM6500 microsystem to other compatible devices within wireless range. The system also works in the opposite mode as an audio receiver from external sources, such as a turntable connected via the line-in. Setting up and configuring the connection of multiple speakers is made easy by the PartyLink mode in the companion mobile app, expanding the sound possibilities for larger spaces.
The cabinet of the Philips TAM6500 microsystem is made of wood and contains integrated speakers along with a clear colour TFT display that offers a brightness control function. Physical control is provided by a rotary volume dial and the remote control, which you will find in the package. On the front, there is a 3.5mm jack analogue audio input for wired connection of external sources and a 3.5mm jack headphone output. The device's plastic casing contains 50% GRS-certified recycled acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). The system also includes an integrated sleep timer, a clock with 12/24-hour format, and an alarm with a single alarm time.
