Lens Aperture
This zoom lens operates with a constant F2.8 aperture throughout its entire focal range. This allows photographers to work with the same shutter speed and sensitivity settings even when changing the zoom. The 9-blade diaphragm creates circular light sources in the background and contributes to a smooth transition between sharp and out-of-focus areas of the image. The F2.8 aperture is helpful when working in dark interiors without needing to increase sensor sensitivity.
Fast and Silent STM Focusing
The focusing system uses a linear STM stepping motor, which operates silently and with high precision. The system reacts instantly to changes in the scene, which helps when tracking moving subjects.
