Key features of the WD My Passport 4TB external drive, red
- 4TB storage capacity
- Uses 256-bit AES hardware encryption
- Included Acronis True Image software for automated backups
- Drive casing made from over 50% plastic
- Password protection option for added data security
- Connects to your computer via USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface
Automated backup
The package includes Acronis True Image for Western Digital software, which simplifies regular backups of your data. You can schedule automatic backups in the program, which then run at set intervals without any further intervention from you. Additionally, this tool helps protect your system from ransomware attacks, preventing the unwanted loss of valuable files. Simply set the schedule once, and the process runs independently in the background.
Data protection
The drive protects your private data with a combination of password protection and hardware encryption. By activating this feature, all data is automatically encoded using a standard also employed by government organisations. For security, it uses integrated 256-bit AES hardware encryption, which effectively prevents unauthorised access to your stored content. Without the correct password, the drive's contents remain unreadable, keeping your files safe both at home and on the go.
