The Thomson 43UG4S14 TV offers a 4K Ultra HD picture on its 43" LED panel. It uses the Google TV operating system, which unifies content from streaming services and apps into one clear interface and provides personalised recommendations. For control and interaction, there's a smart remote with backlit buttons and support for voice commands via Google Assistant. The visuals are enhanced by HDR10+ support, which optimises contrast and colour in every scene.

Picture technology

Content is displayed on a 109cm LED panel with a native 4K Ultra HD resolution (3840 × 2160). The screen operates with a 50/60Hz refresh rate and uses Direct LED backlighting. The visual experience is enhanced by support for the HDR10+ standard, which dynamically adjusts the contrast and colour rendering for each scene. Thanks to a 10-bit colour depth and a 5000:1 contrast ratio, the television displays over a billion shades of colour. An anti-reflective coating reduces glare from ambient light.

Audio features

Sound is provided by a pair of speakers with a total output of 16W. The TV decodes Dolby Audio and DTS Digital Surround sound formats, which help to clarify dialogue and create a sense of surround sound. To connect external audio systems, such as soundbars or home cinemas, one of the HDMI ports offers an eARC function. This enhanced audio return channel transmits high-quality, uncompressed audio tracks. A built-in equaliser is available for manual adjustment of sound parameters.

Smart features

The Google TV operating system serves as the hub for all your entertainment. Its home screen unifies films and series from various apps into one clear environment and offers personalised recommendations. For easy content sharing from mobile devices, the integrated Chromecast technology mirrors your phone or tablet screen directly onto the TV. Access to the Google Play Store opens up a wide range of apps, including services like Netflix, YouTube, Disney+ and Prima+. Control is simplified with support for Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice assistants.

Gaming features

For smooth video gaming, the TV offers a game mode (GAME MODE). Activating it adjusts the picture settings to minimise input lag, resulting in faster responses to controller commands. Two HDMI 2.1 standard ports are available for connecting modern games consoles and computers. These connectors offer sufficient bandwidth to transmit a 4K signal at 60Hz. One of these ports also supports the eARC function for high-quality audio transmission.

Connectivity options

The range of connectors covers all common needs. It offers a total of four HDMI ports, two of which comply with the 2.1 specification and two with version 2.0. For playing files from external drives, there are three USB ports, one of which is the faster 3.0 version. You can connect to the internet via an LAN cable or wirelessly using dual-band Wi-Fi. Bluetooth version 5.0 is available for wirelessly connecting headphones or soundbars. The selection is rounded out by a digital optical output, a headphone output, and a CI+ slot for decoder cards. An integrated DVB-T2/C/S2 triple tuner handles signal reception from all major sources.

Design and installation

The TV's frameless design minimises distracting edges and focuses attention on the content you're watching. Without the stand, the body of the device measures 957 × 556 × 85mm and weighs 7.7kg. Two side feet are included for placing it on furniture, providing stability. Alternatively, the TV can be mounted on a wall using a VESA-compatible mount with a mounting hole spacing of 200 × 200mm. The package also includes a smart remote with backlit buttons for use in the dark and an integrated microphone for voice commands.

Energy consumption

The TV has an F energy rating for both standard (SDR) and high dynamic range (HDR) content. In SDR mode, consumption is 50kWh per 1000 hours of viewing. For content in HDR format, this value increases slightly to 51kWh per 1000 hours. In standby mode, the energy draw is 0.5W. When the TV is connected to a network and in network standby mode, consumption reaches 2.0W. Power is supplied via a standard mains cable with a voltage range of AC 100–240V.
